Paul Youngman

Paul Youngman is familiar to locals and visitors alike for his paintings of unique sites in the Napa Valley and beyond.  He sets up his portable easel to capture what he sees in the rich colors and depth of oils.  "My paintings have the essence of Early California plein air artist's view of color and changing light, but with a contemporary sophistication."

Youngman majored in fine art and graphic design at UCLA and became an architectural and freelance illustrator.  After 20 years in commercial art, he expanded upon his natural ability as a painter.

Youngman has been featured in a number of art magazines as well as a coffee table book, "Art of the American West".  His paintings have appeared in several movies over the years, and his work has been featured in solo and group shows in fine art galleries. For over fifteen years, he participated in the Carmel Art Festival and alsoSomona Plein Air Exhibition.

Paul Youngman is a Signature member of Oil Painters of America (OPA), and Artist member of California Art Club (CAC).  He has served as juror for the Eastern Regional OPA Exhibition, and alsojuror for new OPA Signature applicants.

Arriving in the Napa Valley in 1994, Youngman found it to be the ideal place for his paintings.  His work has been purchased by collectors nationally, and in Europe.  His favorite commission was a large Grand Canyon painting for Mohammed Ali.  His work is also featured in private and corporate collections.
